The Fourth Day- Safari

Today we struck out into the wilderness of Massachusetts in order to visit Salem, the witch town. When we arrived we went to a graveyard which ended up ruining the end of our current book The Crucible because there were a bunch of grave stones telling us who died. We didn't go to the witch museum because Matt said it was cheesy, which was a great disappointment. After looking at graves for a while we went to a musuem called the Peabody-Essex, which had a really sweet body art exhibit and a lot of old stuff which was also really cool. We lunched at a little deli which was playing baby cartoons. Adam was very excited by this discovery. After that we went to a candy store, where we all proceeded to eat our weight in chocolate. We then journeyed deeper into Massachusetts and farther away from Logan Airport, our link to California and civilization. We ended up in a little town called Rockport where I purchased some sweet shades and had a chicken sandwich wrap that turned me into a vegetarian. After spending three hours walking around (most of the time looking for a bathroom) we boarded the bus once again and headed out to Shear Madness, a funny little play that ended up getting a little bit irritating by the end. We then headed back to the hotel, in order to pack and prepare for our departure the next day.

Day 3-Colleges.

All we really did today was go to colleges. They were both far too brick and ivy for me, although BU seemed to be a little bit more worldly than BC and Harvard. I also went and got really good Chinese food for lunch.

Oh that's right we went to Lexington and Concord today as well. It's hard to imagine a fat battle taking place in either of these locales because they both have a ton of housing nearby now. The Lexington Green was really pretty though. I wanted to lie in the grass but Matt wouldn't let me.

Also we went to Walden Pond. We then walked all the way around Walden Pond, and Jo explained to me that people from the East Coast don't get to see as much pretty nature as people from the West Coast, so that is part of the reason why Walden Pond is so important. Basically, we're really spoiled. We also put headphones and sunglasses on the statue of Henry David Thoreau and took pictures.

After that we went to this mall and walked around. I bought eyeshadow. I picked purple because it's my favorite color. Then Adam, Isa and I went to the Rainforest Cafe but it was disappointingly not as good as the one in San Francisco. That's sort of all we did today.... Yeah. I don't think I even have pictures from today. Oh yes I do.

Day Two-Hell

It wasn't actually hell, although it certainly felt that way after being roused at the ungodly hour of 6:15 am. After dragging myself in to and out of a shower and a heinously early breakfast, our entire crew boarded the bus and headed out on our first Boston adventure, Fenway Park.
After at least a half hour in the bus listening to Steve the Tour Guide talk about the building shaped like a washboard we arrived at the Park. As far as baseball stadiums go it was very nice, although I'm pretty sure they don't have those delicious candied nuts that SBC Park has, which means I could never support the Boston Red Sox (sorry Matt... I still like my shirt!). Anyways, the tour guide at Fenway was ridiculously awesome and I hope that one day I have that much enthusiasm for... well, anything.
After Fenway we got back on the bus and headed out for the Freedom Trail. We didn't walk the entire thing because Matt, Jo, and Ian are benevolent souls and realized that 10 am is far too early to walk two and a half miles. So we stopped at Paul Revere's house, which is primarily notable for being the only building in all of Boston made out of wood, not brick. Also, Paul Revere lived there. After taking a group picture in front of this historic landmark we walked to a little bakery place that was quite delicious. After a quick late morning snack the crew waited in the hot sun while Ian the Teacher proceeded to slowly enjoy his latte and canoli. Very slowly...
After that we walked some more and stopped at other historic sites. We stopped at a statue of a guy on a horse (Paul Revere?) and then went to the church where the lantern that warned the colonists of the British's approach was lit. The church had really weird pews and a stolen gold angel. The church was made out of brick.
We then adjourned to lunch. I attempted to teach Adam to use chopsticks at an awesome noodle place but he failed miserably and spilled his iced tea everywhere. It was very embarrassing. We also bought lobster hats, which was surprisingly much less embarrassing.
Back on the bus once again we headed out for Boston College, which is a small, preppy, Jesuit school. Their library looked like a medieval dining hall and the tour guide laughed when I asked her if there was a Buddhist temple near by. Also, their state of the art lab doesn't blow things up very often. Boston College is obviously not ready for The Marin School.
We all got back on the bus then and laughed at the tour guide on our way to the USS Constitution, which is a really old boat. Once we reached the ship we realized that we had missed the organized tour so we just kind of sat around. We departed rather quickly. We then headed to a much more exciting boat, The Spirit of Boston, which took us on a two hour dinner cruise of Boston Harbor. We danced with a bunch of drunk middle aged people and then headed back to the hotel so we could fall into our beds, exhausted.

The First Day

We have arrived! We got into Logan airport around 5/5:30 and got straight on the bus, then straight to the Hard Rock Cafe. They gave us a special little menu which didn't have very many options though. After that we went into Quincy Market and the surrounding shopping village. Quincy Market was really cute. It reminded me of Northern Market (I think that's what it's called...) in Washington D.C. So far I really like Boston. Very pretty...
